"Moments from Beneath the Sky" exhibition
Saturday 15th March 11am to 3pm at the Over Gallery
Moments from Beneath the Sky
Saturday 15th March
Wine, soft drinks and snacks 11am to 3pm
Matt’s work reveals his intimate observation of the natural world. As a beekeeper and keen naturalist Matt has an eye for detail yet this is expressed in free and confident composition and colour. New oil paintings and other oils and woodblock prints are on show.
Capturing moments from beneath the sky, be it the joy of fresh flowers, an adder basking in the spring sunshine or redwings about to take flight from a berry laden hedgerow; Matt’s paintings are visual poems on nature.
The exhibition continues until
Thursday 17th April.

Ivy Wren
Ivy Wren
Woodblock print 13 x 13 cm
I found a mesh of ivy which had been stripped away from a wall recently, it's stems and leaves so finely woven together that it was almost like a piece of material. I used crayon studies I made of a wren last year to put this piece together. I printed the light stone colour first, then the red, then an olive green and finally a slightly lightened indigo blue.

Dunnock among aconites
I finished this piece recently taking more time than usual to get the colours and tones right.
Flowers; it's a battle to work with them before they go over.
